Frequently asked questions

What is myDuka?

myDuka is a Tanzanian commerce platform: vendors get digital storefront software (web + Vendor app), and shoppers get a marketplace (web + Shop app) to discover stores, save products, message sellers, cart and checkout, and set Wanted alerts. Each vendor remains the seller of record.

Where is myDuka available?

myDuka is built for Tanzania nationwide. Each vendor sets the delivery or service areas they support; those areas appear on the shop and product pages.

How much does it cost to open a shop?

A free plan is available so you can start listing. Paid plans unlock higher order and SMS-alert limits, more shops, custom domains, WhatsApp AI chatbot and other tools. Current prices are on the Pricing page before you pay.

How can shoppers pay?

Payment options depend on the vendor and order. Many shops support mobile money and online checkout (for example M-Pesa, Yas, Airtel Money, Lipa Namba or Pesapal). The methods for that shop appear during checkout or on WhatsApp order flows.

Can I order through WhatsApp?

Yes, when a vendor publishes a WhatsApp number. Storefront and product pages can open a ready-made WhatsApp message so you can confirm the order with the seller directly.

What is Wanted on myDuka?

Wanted lets shoppers ask for an availability alert when a search has no matching listed product. Related searches are grouped so demand is clearer. When a shop lists a match, subscribed shoppers get notified. Sellers can use Wanted as a signal of what to stock next.

Who handles delivery and returns?

The vendor handles fulfilment, delivery, returns and product support. Check the vendor's stated terms before ordering and contact that vendor first about an order. myDuka provides the software and marketplace, not courier service for every shop.

How does vendor verification work?

A verified badge means myDuka approved the vendor for marketplace listing after a review. It is not a guarantee of every product or transaction.

What is the WhatsApp AI chatbot?

The WhatsApp AI chatbot helps eligible plan vendors answer common shopper questions on WhatsApp. It complements your own replies and order handling; you remain responsible for fulfilment and final answers.

Which languages are supported?

Public myDuka pages are available in Kiswahili and English. Vendors can also write product details in either language.
